About Us

Bluewater Regional Networks Inc. (BRN) was formed to address the current shortage of high quality, fairly priced fibre optic services in Sarnia-Lambton and surrounding areas. The History

For the past 100 years, Bluewater Power Distribution Corporation has provided power to the people of the Sarnia-Lambton area. In 1916, Sarnia City Council passed a bylaw that allowed for the creation of the Sarnia Hydro-Electric Commission, a utilities company that would grow over the course of a century to become the Bluewater Power of today.

The Evolution

In 2016 Bluewater Power was struggling to find adequate connectivity, after meeting with local stakeholders such as the college and the hospital and municipal offices we found that we were not the only ones struggling. We had made the decision to build a network connecting our facilities and offered services to any businesses along that route. With the help of our partner’s in Network Design and Build, Bluewater Regional Networks was launched.

The Backbone

The response from the community was so great that in less than 4 years we more than doubled our original build. We now own and operate a 60km fully redundant backbone around the city of Sarnia and throughout Point Edward.
